Nitro, Flames, and Fast Speeds Complete Night to Remember during Night of Fire

Nitro, Flames, and Fast Speeds Complete Night to Remember

In a weekend full of non-stop entertainment between the Jet Cars, Nitro Injected Fuel Altereds, Nostalgia BB/Funny Cars, Top Alcohol Dragsters, 10.5 Outlaw presented by Killer Kustoms, and Ed ‘The Outlaw’ Jones and the Jelly Belly/Lucas Oil wheelstander, there was excitement abound all throughout the 5th running of the Baxter Auto Parts/Sunbelt Rentals/Bi-Mart Night of Fire.  Throughout the weekend, racers in big-dollar gambler categories were set alongside each other to test their skills to the limits in tighter-than-ever races!  Major congratulations are in order for Todd Swinford (BB/Funny Car) and Dave Sattem (Quality Concrete Ultimate Gamblers-Electronics) for their wins in today’s activities.  A special announcement also goes out to the winners from Friday’s Yukon Gear & Axle Dragsters Vs Door Cars shootout, which awarded Dan Lafferty as the winner when he defeated Danny Wargnier.  In addition, it was Michael Pliska taking down Brad Burton in the final round of the Modified Eliminator class.  A BIGTIME victory was scored for Mike Graver, whose entire OFY Racing team took the win in the Olympic Iron Works Harley Eliminator class in a dynamite final round against John Plaster.

Featured racing action showcased the jet dragsters and funny cars of Richard Smith, blistering down the quarter mile on three separate occasions, and running a fastest time of 5.433 seconds at an amazing 291.35mph pass. Troy Owen and Dan Hixs dropped jaws across the facility with their Nitro Injected Fuel Altereds, with low ET and top speed going in Owen’s favor, on a dynamite 5.542 @ 258.17mph.  Todd Swinford claimed another victory in the Nostalgia BB/Funny Car class, this time defeating first-time finalist Tyson Parker in the finals, who had claimed his license only earlier this day!  Jeff Ashwell and Joey Severance ran their Top Alcohol Dragsters to consistent 5.50s and 5.30’s respectively. The World of Speed Jr Racing Series had six racers making exhibition passes this Saturday evening, with the overall victory going to Cooper Chun over Austin Varner, when Chun clocked in a best 9.588 on his 9.49 dial to earn the win.  Liz Varner, Nicholas Karr, Ryan Dick, and Nate Greene were in attendance entertaining the crowd with their single-cylinder powered Jr Dragsters.

Looking ahead to Sunday’s show, there are final eliminations tomorrow to be run in the 10.5 Outlaw class presented by Killer Kustoms, Saturday’s K&N Filters ET Bracket Triple Crown in Electronics and Non-Electronics, and the Quality Concrete Ultimate Gamblers Non-Electronics, which had over 70 cars signed up in competition!
