DJM Pacific Waterland Phenomenal Success

With a wonderful count of drag racing enthusiast, car show beauties, swap meet junkies, and VW/Audi lovers, the 10th running of the Double J Motorwerks Pacific Waterland left all who attended in smiles.  From the very beginning to the very end, entertainment was brought in the form of dynamite drag racing, record-setting Vanagon Crams (with 60!!! volunteers wedged inside), immaculate car show pieces, unique and curious swap meet items, and a plethora of other things to keep the spectators and racers busy.  On the racing portion, winners were claimed in the form of Bernd Arndt (Pro), Tim Ross (Sportsman), and Molly McFarran (Run Tuff). Don’t forget you can view pictures from today’s event our Official Facebook Page. Final points standings are available a this time in the ‘Points’ section of the website under ‘Racer Info’.

The VW-Sportsman class was won when Tim Ross, out of Lakewood WA, defeated Kari Sorensen, James Mott, and Tyler Tovar to earn the semi-final round single.  In the finals, Ross’ reaction time advantage of a .068 to a .164 made the difference at the finish line, winning over Carissa Duhrkoop.  Bryce Moilanen was the lone semi-finalist of the category.

In the VW-Pro category, it was pair of heavy hitters in the final round when Bernd Arndt and Joey Felix were set for battle.  Arndt, a three time champion at Woodburn Dragstrip, earlier defeated Peter Bourret, Chris Cawthon, and James McTavish.  In the finals, once again the reaction time played a pivotal role when Arndt scored the holeshot victory by just .049 seconds! McTavish and Mark Hunt were the semi-finalist.

VW Run Tuff was for racers who had the misfortune of losing in the first round of competition, and featured Molly McFarran and Ryan Cornelison in the final round.  Like the pair of professionals that they are, McFarran and Cornelison left with dynamite reaction times (.007 to a .014) before McFarran’s 12.918 on the 12.71 secured victory.  Jason Wells and Thomas Major were the semi final finishers.
