Troy Owen, Dennis Gorans, Marty Stewart, Mark Sundstrum, Steve Marcus Claim Featured Wins at NAPA Oldies But Goodies

At the 38th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Oldies But Goodies at Woodburn Dragstrip (Woodburn, OR.), there was a final round matchup between the quickest and fastest AA/Supercharged in the nation.  Troy Owen and the Dave’s Rod Shop sponsored ’41 Willys, which last year set the all-time low E.T. record at a 6.450, was one half of the final. Opposite him was Mitch Chamberlin, who earlier in the weekend blasted to a 218.23mph (backed up with a 217.49mph pass) to reset the speed record.   A high-drama final round found a way to be even more so as after the semi-final’s, Chamberlin discovered a broken clutch lever!  Using up all of the time allowed, they were able to throw together a makeshift lever.  Unfortunately, it was unable to hold together in the final as Owen blasted to a 6.565 at 215.56, while Chamberlin slowed to a 7.885 at 148.61.

Other Sunday winners were Dennis Gorans (Top Eliminator), Marty Stewart (Pro Nostalgia), Mark Sundstrum (Nostalgia Eliminator), Steve Marcus (Dragster/Roadster), Don Budd (Top Gas), Rick Sales Sr (Hot Rod I), Dave Bronec (Street Machine I), Jimmy Heriford (Hot Rod II), Duane Turner (Street Machine II), Zac Summers (Stick Shift), and CJ Stoakes (Inline/Flathead).
