Jerry Durant Jr ~ Pickup Series Champion

Last year, Jerry Durant Jr won three straight events to secure the championship in the inaugural Pickup series. With one event rained out, and one event ended before first round due to rain, there were only four events that another racer could try and lock in this year’s championship.

At the first completed event, Jerry Durant Jr’s started the season off right by defeating Jeff Poleski, after having a .015 reaction time and winning via a double-breakout. At the next event, it was Robert Schaefer and Jerry Durant III into the final round, with the victory going to Schaefer after uncorked a blistering .003 reaction time.

For the Lucas Oil Products Thunder Truck Drags, it was Jerry Durant Jr and Bart Sowa in the final round of eliminations. Between these two drivers it was Sowa with the reaction time advantage by .02, but Durant Jr who ran closer to his posted dial-in, earning him the victory. After Durant’s second with in three events, the Championship was again locked up by the driver of the purple 2005 Dodge Ram Pickup.

The final event was held on September 27th, featuring David Schneider and Jerry Durant Jr, who was in his third final round of the four completed races. Schneider found himself out in front at the finish line after he leaped off the line with a .024 reaction time, before running a 17.175 on his 17.17 dial-in to get the win over 2014 Pickup Series Champion Durant Jr.
