Garry Heinrich ~ Hot Rod II Champion

The Hot Rod II class is one that is for vehicles that are 1966 and older, running 12.00 seconds and slower. At the first event that was held to completion, Lucky Long defeating Devon Hilton in a very exciting final round that had both leave with nearly identical reaction times separated by .007, before Hilton broke out at the finish line to give the win to ‘Lucky’ Long.  The second race, at the Oldies But Goodies, showcased Jimmy Heriford driving the Lettie Hilles owned Ford Fever Fairlane into the Quality Concrete/Salem Concrete Paving Winner’s Circle over Garry Heinrich.  After this event was completed, the points were as follows: Heinrich in first place with 150, Hilton sitting second with 140, and Heriford in third with 120 Points.

At the fourth event, held over 4th of July weekend, Justin Caldwell downed Dawn Dietrich by a slim .008 at the finish line. Then, at the Hot Rod Nationals, it was Garry Heinrich (1st in points) vs Devon Hilton (2nd in points) competing in the finals. What was set up as an exciting final round was over before it began when Hilton turned on the red light by .029, meaning that Heinrich would now stretch his lead to 3 rounds going into the final event. At that final event, Hilton would need to take down Heinrich in the first round and advance to the final round to secure victory. However, Hilton couldn’t pull off the feat a second time. After defeating Heinrich in the first round of eliminations, he was downed in round two by former NHRA Division 6 representative Gordon Cady Jr in the 2nd round, who went on to win the race over Rich Strobehn.
