Bill/Tony McNeal ~ Fall Electronics Champions

It was teams a plenty in the Electronics category! Going into the last race of the series, your eventual champion was sitting second with 210 points, tied with the team of Guy and Sue Mitchell. However, at the last event, the championship team of Bill and Tony McNeal defeated Guy Mitchell in the semi’s to seal the championship.

At the first point’s event, Tony McNeal earned the win over Dan Shepherd after running a 10.186 on the 10.16 with a stellar .015 reaction time to get the win. The second event showcased a final round between Dave Sattem and Gary Wargnier. Five exciting rounds of victory at the Fall Classic could only end with an exciting final—and that’s what we were treated with as there were reaction times separated by only .004, before Sattem snatched the win by .024 seconds.

On September 21st, the winner was to be determined between Guy Mitchell and Mark Pracht, with Mitchell earning the win via a 10.19 on his 10.18 dial-in. At this time the points were as follows: Bill/Tony McNeal with 180 points, Gary Wargnier with 160 points, and Guy/Sue Mitchell with 150. The last two events would truly count! Guy Mitchell did a great job of earning the necessary points to put the wheel-standing Nova into the points lead when he faced off against Bill Heard in the final round of the October 5th event. However, in his second final round of the five-race series, it was not meant to be after turning on the red light by -.003. With a tie being now held for the top spot, and a one round lead over third place Wargnier, the final event was set up to be anybody’s to win!

At the final event, all three candidates won in the first round of competition.  In the second round, Guy Mitchell and Tony McNeal lined up to do battle.  McNeal left with the starting line advantage, and raced down to get the win on a double-breakout finish.  With the next pair up showcasing 2012 Electronics Champion Dan Shepherd defeating Gary Wargnier, meaning that Tony and Bill McNeal would be the Champions! For good measure, the young McNeal then won the next two rounds to win the championship at the final event!
