Alisha Miller ~ World of Speed Jr Thunder Champion

Similar to stats from the last story, where if a driver in the Jr Dragster category wins the first two races they have been 5/5 on winning the championship in the past, there is also a new statistic I must tell you. If a driver wins six of the nine events that are held in a year, they have a pretty good chance of winning the championship as well!

At the first event of the season, Alisha Miller defeated Conner Rice when she ran closer to her dial-in, a feat that was duplicated at the next completed event when Kyler Pitts defeated Rice by running closer to his dial-in.  Following that event, Dylan Hough scored a dynamite win over Miller when he ran an 8.940 on his 8.90 dial. With five of the six events completed, Miller was holding a slim one round lead over Rice (210 to 200 respectively), with Hough sitting third at 190 points.  But that’s when ‘it’ happened.

On June 8th, Alisha Miller again shot into the final round, defeating Conner Rice after Rice encountered mechanical issues.  A few weekends later, Miller was again in the final round, this time eliminating Dylan Hough after Hough broke out at the stripe by only .014. At the next event, Miller made it three for three when she again beat Hough in the final round to earn her third straight event win.  On Day 2 of the double-header, Rice burst through into the Quality Concrete/Salem Concrete Paving Winner’s Circle after defeating Cooper Chun in the final round.  At the second to last event, Miller reached her fifth final round of the last six races and defeated Alexis Marshall, who was in her first final round of her young career. At the final event of the season, Miller put one more on the mantelpiece when Chun red lit in the final.  Miller’s season however was far from over.  After earning the championship, she burst into the record books when she claimed the NHRA Division 6 Jr Thunder Championship at the ET Finals, as well as earning the Woodburn Dragstrip Driver of the Year award.
