The Final Event of 2013 is in the Books! Fall ET & Jr Champs Crowned

The final race of the 2013 season was completed under blue skies as champions were crowned in the Fall ET Racing Series and Fall Jr Racing Series. Congratulations to event winners Gary Wargnier (Electronics), Dave Bronec (Transbrake), Jeff Enger (Foot Brake), Curt Landis (Run Tuff), Taylor Toftemark (Jr Lightning), Lorenzo Gonzalez (Jr Thunder), and Clay Saches (Jr Tuff). Special congratulations also go out to series champions. With the racing season now complete, we wish everyone a happy and quick offseason, and a reminder that our 36th Annual Awards Banquet will be held Saturday night, November 16th. Banquet invites will be going out to 2013 Woodburn Dragstrip Summit team members, as well as top finishers in all points-earning series. If you don’t receive your invite within the next couple of weeks, there will be a printable version put onto our website.

The Electronics category featured a final round between Gary Wargnier and Vicki Shepherd. Wargnier eliminated incoming point’s leader Scott Nuciforo, Guy Mitchell, and Dennis Weddle, while Shepherd dominated over Jeff Lewis and Roger Weddle before earning the single in the semi’s. In the final round, Wargnier uncorked a dominating .006 reaction time and ran an 8.587 on the 8.57 to take the win. Dennis Weddle was the number one qualifier with a .002.

In the Transbrake category, there was a final round battle between the number five and four qualifiers. The number five qualifier, Dave Bronec, scored wins over Carl Meinig, Scott Davis, and Joe Sorenson. On the other side of the ladder, number four qualifier Dave Nassimbene chocked up victories over George Burns Sr, Brett Davis, and Pat Figini. Reaction time differences in the finals were separated by just .028 in favor of Bronec, and ran a 10.16 on the 10.15 to get the win. Brett Davis was the number one qualifier with a .030.

Foot Brake eliminations showcased a pair of Jeff’s in the final round. Jeff Enger defeated Curt Landis, Scott Stoner, Ken Sweo, a single, and Jim Lamkin to reach the finals. For Jeff Marchi: Norman Lemly, a single, Garry Heinrich, Bill Lane, and a single to reach the finals. In the final round, Marchi scored the reaction time advantage, but Enger ran closer to his posted dial-in to earn the tough victory over the number one qualifier.

The Run Tuff category is one that allows racers who have the misfortune of losing first round a second chance to race. In the finals, Foot Brake racer Curt Landis squared off with Transbraker Carl Meinig. Landis erupted off the starting line with a stellar .018 reaction time and never looked back, scoring the victory. Traci DePeel was the lone semi-finalist.

The Jr Lightning category featured Taylor Toftemark and Carson Wheeler in the final round with a battle for the Series Championship. Unfortunately for Wheeler, he turned on the red light start by -.025, handing the win to Toftemark. In the Thunder category, Lorenzo Gonzalez and Alisha Miller battled out in the finals with Gonzalez getting the win after Miller red lit by -.003. Ryan Bese was the lone semi-finalist. In Jr Tuff, Clay Sachse defeated Conner Rice in the final round.
