Fun Had By Everyone At The 8th Annual Pacific Waterland
The 8th running of the Double J Motorwerks Pacific Waterland event was by far the best showing ever. With close racing, spectacular car show, cool swap meet, Vanagan Cram (58 people in a Vanagan), Engine Blow, Vanagan Push, Scavenger Hunt, Burnout contest and great people and friends, the date will be one to remember. Race winners were crowned: Mark Hunt (Pro), Mike Morrow (Sportsman) and Craig Wilmes (Run Tuff). Ryan Jones impressed everyone with a burnout for the ages, in which a radiator and his front left tire fell victim.
In the Pro category, two racers fought through four rounds of competition to make it into the final. Mark Hunt defeated Michael Schwab, Arian Goodson, and Brad Roberts, while Bernd Arndt downed Jerry Caddell and Jeremiah Halsey before earning a single in the semis. In the final round, Hunt earned the reaction time advantage over Arndt and never looked back, running closer to his number to score the victory.
Sportsman category eliminations pitted a regular competitor and a brand new rookie. The veteran, Mike Morrow, defeated Aaron Crosley, Brandon Bearsley and Thomas Major before earning the single in the semis. The rookie, Jose Martinez, downed Bryan Edwards, Danny Kassab, Kory Crosen, and Carissa Duhrkoop to reach the final round. In the finals, Morrow earned the starting line advantage over Martinez and took it to the bank and getting the victory.
The Run Tuff category is one that allows racers who lose in the first round of eliminations a second chance to get a round win. The final round featured Craig Wilmes and Rick Elverud in the final, with Elverud breaking out by just seven thousandths of a second, resulting in a win for Wilmes.
Listed are final round results in order of driver name, city/state, (vehicle type), [reaction time], elapsed time, miles per hour, and (dial-in).
