Harmon, Wheeler, Hough, and Pedro Earn Jr Dragster Victories on April 18th

Four racers earned their first victories of the season and three of them moved into first place in the point standings at the 2012 Jr. Drag Racing Series held on April 28th at Woodburn Dragstrip. Meanwhile, the Bud Lites were successful in the defense of their Car Club Challenge victory from 2011. Challenged by the Sutton Girls (2 points), and the Trunk Monkeys (5 points), the Bud Lites (7 points) earned the Car Club Challenge victory. Team members (Gene Bergstrom, Travis Hilton, Gary Wargnier, Dennis Weddle, and Cliff Mansfield) will have opportunity to defend their title again on June 30th.

The Car Club Challenge was divided into two classes of competition. In the class for cars with slicks, Dennis Weddle used a .021 reaction time and an 8.409 at 156 mph to defeat Travis Hilton’s 13.13 from his Blazer. Hilton had defeated Gene Bergstrom in the semi-finals. In the street-tire division, Jerry Kimball and his ’64 Olds 442 were victorious over Molly Doherty’s ’74 Nova. Spencer David earned a semi-final finish at this event.

Top qualifiers for the Jr. Drivers were as follows:

Jr. Thunder – Dylan Hough .015

A. J. Harmon took top honors in Jr. Fast. His win over Miranda Floyd moved him into first place in the current series point standings. Spencer David and Dustin Day were semi-finalists at this event.

Carson Wheeler took the victory over Cole Rose in Jr. Lightning. His win moved him into a tie with Taylor Toftemark for first place in the current series point standings. Taylor Toftemark and Dustin Day were semi-finalists at this event.

Dylan Hough took the win over Elizabeth Varner in Jr. Thunder. His win moved him into first place in the current series point standings. Tommy Tallan was the lone semi-finalist at this event.

Jr. Tuff was won by Kylan Pedro over Jesse Skerjanec. Taylor Nielson was the lone semi-finalist. Following is the names of the final results with the driver’s name, city, car, reaction time, elapsed time, miles per hour and dial in.
