Fall Jr Drag Racing Series Lightning Champion – Dustin Day
The 2012 Fall Jr Drag Racing Series had one thing going for it: the fight for second in the Lightning class. Dustin Day capped off a 2nd place finish in the 12 race Jr Drag Racing Series in the Fast category and a dominating performance in the Jr Fall Series. Day’s stats had him with a 91% chance of winning any given round, and a 75% chance of winning the race.
The first final round of the four race series matched up nicely, with the Champion in Jr. Lightning, Carson Wheeler, versus the 2nd place finisher in Jr. Fast, Day, concluding with the latter taking the victory. In the second race, a familiar story occurred with Day using a stellar reaction time to take the win over Casey Ladd. However, Ladd would have the satisfaction of being the only driver to beat Day in the Fall series, as he did so the following race in the first round of eliminations by less than one hundredth of a second. Ladd took his first round luck to drive through the elimination field and into the Quality Concrete/Salem Concrete Paving Winners Circle while defeating Carson Wheeler yet again. However, Day would continue his dominance at the final race, winning and taking the Championship, after Taylor Toftemark’s red light in the final round. This is Day’s third Championship to go with the ones he earned in 2007 and 2008. Following is a list of the top three point’s earners in the Fall Jr Drag Racing Series Thunder class, listed by name, round wins, and total points:
1. Dustin Day, 10 round wins, 250 Points
2. Casey Ladd, 6 round wins, 190 Points
3. Carson Wheeler, 5 round wins, 170 Points.
