David Bany ~ February 6, 1959 – April 1, 2018

David Bany of Wilsonville, died Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018, after a long-fought battle with cancer.  Dave was born Feb. 6, 1959 to Ray and Ruth Bany in Oregon City and grew up in West Linn as one of nine children.

Dave was a true entrepreneur and always worked to make the world better for others. Along with his wife Sally, he was co-owner of Moonstruck Chocolate Company as well as a co-founder of two non-profits, Youth Music Project and World of Speed Motorsports Museum. Dave was dedicated to giving children opportunities through their family foundation, the Marie Lamfrom Charitable Foundation. Through these organizations, Dave quietly worked to improve the lives of those around him, never seeking recognition for his efforts. He had a deep appreciation for music, as well as a passion for preserving the history of motorsports for future generations.

Those closest to Dave will remember his humor, his passion for cars and desire to help those in need. As a native Oregonian, Dave loved the Pacific Northwest, where he spent time hunting and fishing. He enjoyed studying history, especially the World War II era and cherished his guitar collection. He could often be found on his favorite island of Maui, soaking up the Hawaiian culture through music and one of his favorite films, Elvis Presley’s Blue Hawaii. Above all else, he loved spending time with his family.

Dave is survived by his loving family; his high school sweetheart and wife, Sally Bany; his two daughters, Annie Bany and Rachael Sneddon; his son-in-law, Russell Sneddon; and granddaughter, Norah.

A public memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2018, at Jesuit High School in the Smith Gym. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to World of Speed or Youth Music Project.
