JDRL FAST
Although they are not driving Top fuel Dragsters, the drivers in the Metro Portland Auto Dealers Association JDRL Fast Series put on a real show in 2007. Competition was intense, to say the least. And the drivers who really love to go fast, did just that. The first event of the season was stopped after the first round of competition due to rainfall. At that time, Benjamin Hilton, Marissa Garrigues, Sadie Floyd, Kyleah Taylor, Katlin Doherty, Britni Lane, Ian Hoover, and Jessica Miller had already earned their first round win.
The second event, held on April 14th saw Marissa Garrigues defeat Travis Hilton in the final. Marissa averaged a .029 R/T over the five rounds to earn the victory. Nicole Fluge was the lone semi-finalist. Marissa had an early 30 point lead in the series.
Travis Hilton worked his way to his second consecutive final on April 28th and was victorious over Ian Hoover in a double red-light. Jeffrey Taylor and Jessica Miller were semi-finalists and Travis moved into a 20 point lead over Marissa for the series.
Ian Hoover made it two finals-in-a-row on May 12. This time he faced the other Hilton – that would be Benjamin. In an effort to gain the R/T advantage, Ian red-lit, which gave the win to Benjamin Hilton. Jessica Miller was the lone semi-finalist. In the points chase, Travis is holding a 20 point lead over his brother with Ian and Marissa tied for third, only 10 points behind.
May was a great month for Benjamin Hilton as he takes his second consecutive win on the 27th , defeating Derek McMasters in the final. Nicole Fluge and Jessica Miller take semi-final honors. Benjamin Hilton takes a 30-point advantage in series totals, followed by his brother, with Jessica Miller in third place.
The sixth event saw Marissa Garrigues take her second victory, this time over Jessica Miller who drew the red light in the finals. Bruce Adsero and Ian Hoover are semi-finalists. As of June 2nd, Benjamin Hilton still held the point lead, Marissa was second 20 points back and Jessica and Travis were tied for third, only 10 points behind Marissa.
Travis Hilton became the third driver with two victories each on June 16th as he defeated Jamie Ladd. Travis took a .02 second R/T advantage and carried it all the way to the finish line. Benjamin Hilton and Jeffrey Taylor earned semi-final finishes. The points total shows Travis and Benjamin tied for first, followed by Marissa Garrigues and Jessica Miller.
The team of Nicole Fluge/Holly Fields earned the victory over Rob Hoffman on June 30th. Cydney DeFrang was the lone semi-finalist. Nicole Fluge moves into third place in points, while Travis is second, 10 points behind Benjamin.
Marissa Garrigues earned her third victory of the season on July 14th defeating Jessika Stewart in the finals. Kyleah Taylor and Benjamin Hilton earned semi-final finishes, which enabled Benjamin to maintain a 20 point lead over Travis, who was followed by Marissa, who, with her victory today, narrowed the margin to 10 points behind Travis.
Brady King gives everybody a driving lesson on August 5th as he defeats Travis in the finals. In the finals Brady runs 8.164 on an 8.16 dial-in to secure the victory. Kyleah Taylor was the lone semi-finalist. With Benjamin having lost first round today, Travis is able to take a 20 point lead over his brother into the next event.
It was Brady’s brother, Billy King, giving the driving lesson on September 2nd, as Benjamin Hilton red-lit in the finals against him. Never-the-less, Billy ran a 7.907 on a 7.90 dial for the victory. Forest Schiffman and Rob Hoffman were semi-finalists. Billy had defeated Travis in the second round today, and Benjamin holds a slim 10 point lead over Travis at the end of this event.
On September 22nd, Travis Hilton earned his third victory of the season and cinches the championship with his victory over Jessica Miller. With Benjamin’s loss in the second round, Travis earned 40 more points at this event than his brother did, giving him a 30 point total margin. Had the final event not been rained out, Benjamin would have had one more shot, but that was not to be. Travis Hilton is the 2007 JDRL Fast Champion. Benjamin Hilton followed in second place with Marissa in third, Jessica MIller in fourth and Nicole Fluge in fifth.
