Jr Drag Racing Series
Jr. Dragsters are half-scale dragsters powered by five-horsepower engines that can produce speeds up to 85 mph in the eighth-mile. Kids age 8 to 17 years-old will compete in three categories: Jr Thunder (age 8-10), Jr Lightning (age 11-14), and Jr Fast (age 15-17). Drivers ages 8-9 may run as quick as 12.90 (about 45 mph) on the eighth-mile. Drivers 13 to 17 may run as quick as 7.90 seconds in the eighth-mile. The Jr Drag Racing Series is a 15 race series: April 2, 9, 30, May 7, 14, 28, June 4, 18, July 2, 3, 23, 30, August 20, September 11 & 24. The top two points earners (as of August 20th) in the three classes will earn the right to compete at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA ET Finals at Firebird Raceway in Boise, Idaho on September 2-4, 2011. The highlight of the season will be the Don Rhyne Memorial NHRA Northwest Division JR Dragster Challenge scheduled for Sunday, July 3rd. New for 2011: The JR Dragster Land of the Leaders ET Challenge will consist of a four race series (April 30th, May 28th, June 18th, & July 23rd) to be held at Woodburn Dragstrip to be held in conjunction with the normally schedule Jr event. Racers will compete at your local track and will not be required to travel. Each contestant will be required to be signed up for track points and have an NHRA competition number. Champions will be crowned in two age groups: (age 8 to 12) and (age 13-17). Each category champion will receive a Wally and two tickets to the NHRA Northwest Division banquet.
