WOODBURN DRAGSTRIP  (Aug. 8)

I do not know anything that could have been done to increase the good time that everyone shared at the 22nd Annual BiMart•BuySellRide•92.3KGON Hot Rod Nationals.  Likely however, no one had more fun than Russ Parker who drove three different cars in three different classes and made it to the finals in all three.  The pits and the parking lot were filled with beautiful custom cars and hot rods for everyone’s pleasure.  Racers from Oregon, Washington, Idaho, and California held nothing back in an effort to earn the title in 12 classes for cars and four classes for motorcycles.  Two gamblers’ races plus the Slant Six Association race were icing-on-the-cake for Saturday’s day of qualifying.   Beautiful blue skies and comfortable temperatures made up for the slight delay caused by the Sunday morning mist, which actually resulted in the cars running even quicker.

(read below for JDRL results)

With one event remaining in the Sunoco Race Fuels Championship Series, two questions remain. #1 - Who will be the champion in each of the classes?  And #2 -  Who will earn positions on the Woodburn Dragstrip NHRA Division 6 ET Finals team?   The top points earners on August 1 in their respective classes were Mike McManus, Nicholas Shepherd, Robert Schaffer, and Steve Stute.

The 32nd Annual  99.5 The Wolf Thunder Truck Drags brought out the best of all kinds of trucks to compete for bragging rights on July 31, 2010.  Bill Weissenfluh from Canyon City, Oregon claimed low ET and top mph for the Big Rigs with a 17.261 blast at 83 mph through the traps at the top end.
